If you’re a wrestling fan, you might want to check out this post to make sure you’re up to date on all things in the business. When it comes to buying a singlet for wrestling, people usually take into account all kinds of different factors. Today, we thought we should take a look at the other side of things, so here’s a list of the 10 greatest wrestlers in the world right now:
10. The Miz
First of all, it is worth saying that even though the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is currently the world’s top wrestling promotion, this list strives to take into account the performers all around the world. Having been brought up to the main stage after appearing on the show Tough Enough, Mike “The Miz” Mizanin is one of the best acts in wrestling right now and has been for a while.
The fact that he can make almost any segment entertaining and worth watching has seen him climb to the top of the mid-card and win the Intercontinental Championship a record – 8 times. With top company star Roman Reigns out battling cancer, The Miz could be one of the stars the WWE relies upon in the 2022-2020 season.
9. Tetsuya Naito
The New Japan Pro-Wrestling star regularly entertains the audience with close to 5-stars matches. For a while now, Naito has been one of the main attractions of the promotion, putting on some incredible matches with names like Kota Ibushi and Juice Robinson.
After winning the IWGP Intercontinental Championship in 2018, he is expected to keep his form in 2022 and continue to dazzle fans worldwide with his array of moves and unique charisma. All things considered, Naito’s role in the company can only be on the rise.
8. Cody
The son of former WWE superstar Dusty Rhodes, Cody is another prime example of what the world’s top wrestling promotion can let slip between its fingers. Ever since leaving Vince McMahon’s company, he has really come into his own in New Japan Pro-Wrestling as his mic skills, character and ring work have considerably improved.
He has learned how to properly engage an audience and this has seen him steadily rise in notoriety over the last year. Cody has already had classic-type matches with former stables Kenny Omega and top workers like Nick Aldis. His yet untapped full potential is what has him in the cards for the title of IWGP Heavyweight Champion this year.
7. Roman Reigns
Whoever you are, a list of the top 10 wrestlers in the world has to include “The Big Dog”. Roman Reigns was notoriously heralded as chairman Vince McMahon’s blue-chip prospect who will make his mark as the next legend in the WWE. After all, he has spent the better part of 2018 fighting for the Universal Championship, the company’s main title.
However, the reason he is so low on this list is the fact that on the October 22 episode of Raw, Reigns let the world know that he had been struggling with Leukemia for the past years of his life and that he had to take a leave of absence to start the treatment against this disease.
6. Braun Strowman
The former member of the Wyatt Family has quickly climbed the company’s ranks since going solo. He has been able to enrapture the audience with his displays of raw strength and power, and this is one of the most important things when it comes to success in the WWE.
Nicknamed “The Monster Among Men”, Strowman has recently got into the main championship picture and doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. Besides his obvious physical qualities, he has also displayed good charisma and mic work.
5. Seth Rollins
Rollins is one of the best in-ring performers the WWE has to offer today, his arsenal of moves being nicely complimented by his recent feats of endurance after wrestling non-stop for one hour and five minutes on RAW. After winning the Intercontinental and the Tag Team Championships in 2018, the one nicknamed “The Architect” could be the company’s breakout star in 2022.
4. Brock Lesnar
A lot of current fans dislike Brock Lesnar due to his short, barely-visible appearances on WWE television while also being the champion. He owes his place on this list to the fact that he is, at the moment, the longest running champion in modern history, having held the title for 504 consecutive days.
Lesnar is also one of the few wrestlers to have found success in the MMA world, where the WWE is often laughed at for being “scripted” and “fake”. Despite the fans not liking the rarity of his matches, he seems to be a stalwart of the company going into 2022.
3. Kazuchika Okada
Okada is another example of a wrestler who breaks records as a champion, managing to hold the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for a staggering 720 days while having 12 title defenses including the widely regarded greatest wrestling match in history with Kenny Omega.
Since losing his belt though, he has failed to make yet another impact which is the reason for him only earning the 3rd place on this list. It is worth mentioning that Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave his match with Omega a record-breaking 7-star rating.
2. AJ Styles
“The Phenomenal One” is a prime example of a bona fide Indie star who also earned great success in the WWE. He seems to get better every year, with his mic skills and ring work getting constantly improved by his tremendous work ethic. Styles seems set to dominate the company for many years, as workhorses who can get over with the fans are rare in today’s wrestling world.
1. Kenny Omega
The title of “the Best wrestler in the world” differs of course from each fan’s point of view. However, if you take into consideration in-ring work, charisma and fan support Kenny Omega has been one of the best things in professional wrestling for a while now.
He has a unique approach to the craft which he combines with an almost uncanny ability to put on big matches, this being proven by his involvement in 3 of the highest rated matches of the year. His current roll indicated that Omega will probably be a star for a very long time and makes him the greatest wrestler in the world right now.

Let’s get one thing straight, WWE is not the top wrestling promotion in the world. It may be the most powerful and one of the most tenured, but that does not mean by any stretch it is number one. Also, I don’t exactly agree with this list, especially because Braun Strowman is very limited to what he can do in the ring and because The Miz’s working ability is not exactly top 10 material.
Brock Lesnar is probably the most believable pro wrestler and can draw tons of crowds, but my problem with him being in the top 10 is that he’s working twice or three times a year, which is not consistent enough to be top 10. Roman Reigns is a natural born wrester and checks all of the boxes as a top guy, but his mic skills are still underdeveloped. Then again, thats another problem with being a WWE guy because wrestlers have to read scripted promos instead of actually showing their mic skills.
Biggest problem with making a top 10 is that wrestling is subjective and people have different opinions about what’s good and what’s not. Also, booking can always get in the way about how people think of wrestlers, so that’s why but here is my opinion of who belongs in the top 10 category worldwide.
I am judging on — technical ability, storytelling ability, brand (image, character, look), charisma, microphone skills, drawing power/ability
But, here is my list.
Honorable Mentions: Adam The Hangman Page, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, WALTER, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, Tomohiro Ishii, Jon Moxley

Hey.. I definitely think that John Cena is the backbone of wrestling itself so, he should be appearing first not some Kenny Omega
You gotta make more researches on that fact.

You clearly have never seen Kenny Omega wrestle. John Cena hated the Rock for going HollyWood & what did he do years after? Same exact thing. Yeah he’s entertaining & for a whole decade when WWE sucked until the NXT guys/women came up ( I’ve been watching it since the attitude Era ) you could consider him the back bone then, but with not much talent to compete with, it doesn’t say much. When i first watched AEW, i had no idea who 95% of the wrestlers were, including Kenny Omega, Lucha Bros, Young Bucks, Santana & Ortiz to name a few others. Just watching how talented they all we’re with there in ring skills & just in general, made me an instant fan of Wrestling again. He deserves to be where he is on the list. I do think Braun Strowman should be replaced on this list with Bray Wyatt/ Randy Orton or Drew Mcyntire. How Drew isn’t on this list is beyond me. Just my opinion, his comeback has been incredible to watch.
